The appointment

Thorough. Honest.
Forty-five minutes.

A hearing test should explain what's actually going on, not just steer you toward a device. Here's how ours works.

  1. 01
    Your history
We talk through your hearing, lifestyle and any concerns before any testing begins.
  2. 02
    Ear health check
An otoscopy to examine your ear canals and rule out wax or other physical causes first.
  3. 03
    Diagnostic testing
Pure-tone audiometry, plus speech-in-noise and middle-ear analysis on the advanced test, using calibrated equipment.
  4. 04
    Your results
We explain your results in plain language and, if anything's needed, talk through your options independently.
Livingston · HCPC-Registered Audiologist
The audiologist

A hearing test done properly, by a qualified audiologist.

Many high-street hearing tests are really a sales funnel for one manufacturer's aids. The result is hurried appointments and recommendations driven by targets, not your hearing.

Livingston is a fully qualified, HCPC-registered audiologist with over 9 years of clinical experience. He's independent — so any advice you're given is based on your hearing, never a sales quota.

Pricing

Clear pricing. No surprises.

Both tests include a full consultation and your results explained in plain language.

Questions

Everything you might be wondering.

How long does a hearing test take?
Plan for around 30–45 minutes, depending on whether you have the basic or advanced test. That includes time to talk through your history, the testing itself, and a clear explanation of your results.
Is the hearing test really free for over-55s?
Yes. Our basic hearing test is free for anyone over 55. The advanced test is £100, and that fee is fully waived if you decide to purchase hearing aids with us.
What's the difference between the basic and advanced test?
The basic test is a general check of your hearing. The advanced test is a full diagnostic assessment — including speech-in-noise testing and middle-ear analysis — and is recommended if you struggle to follow speech in noisy places or are considering hearing aids.
Will you try to sell me hearing aids?
No. We're independent, with no ties to any manufacturer. If you don't need anything, we'll tell you. If you do, we'll talk through the options honestly — the choice is always yours.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No referral is needed — you can book a hearing test directly. If your results suggest a medical issue that needs a doctor, we'll guide you on the right next step.
What should I bring?
Bring any hearing aids you currently wear, a list of your medications, and — if you can — someone who knows your hearing well. It all helps us build a fuller picture.
